Today many people are involved in sport at a competitive level, even though it may be just a recreational activity for them. In many cases, these recreational athletes may be performing at a level that 30 years ago would have been considered world class!

Advanced sports massage therapy has subsequently become a very important factor in helping all athletes reach optimal performance through injury-free training. My extensive knowledge of anatomy helps me as your massage therapist to provide you as an athlete with some performance advances such as:
- Reducing the chance of injury
- Improving your range of motion and muscle flexibility
- Diminishing recovery time for strenuous workouts
- Eliminating subsequent pains of the athlete at any level
- Maximizing the supply of nutrients and oxygen through increased blood flow
- Facilitating the body's regular processes for recovery from exercise.

Generally, sports massage is distinguished from therapeutic massage by the following conditions:
- "Pre-event" or event preparation helps stimulate the nervous system and warm-up
    the tissues to be used during competition, it increases circulation and flexibility
    and nervous tensions.
- "Post-event" or recovery reduces soreness and muscle tension, decreases swelling,
    and assists in the removal of lactic acid and helps the athlete to recover more rapidly.
- "Intra-event" or maintenance helps with decongestion of musculature and focuses on
    the muscles that will be used during the next event. It helps the athlete reach and
    maintain peak performance through injury-free training.

The sports massage therapy that I use is based on Deep Swedish massage with muscle-specific applications of standard techniques. In addition, I include techniques such as Trigger Point , Hydrotherapy, and Cyriax Massage. Inclusion of these techniques is always dependent on the individual case. My sport massage is designed to assist the athlete at every stage of the athletic process.
